Mercedes B-Class Luxury Car Launched in India

"Growth in the luxury car segment has been flat in the first eight months of the year last year and this year we sold around 7,500 units, we are likely to end up with the same number," Mercedes-Benz India Director (Sales and Marketing) Debashis Mitra told reporters here.

B-Class sports tourers model under the company's 25 lakh was speaking after the first start.


Mitra said the recently announced measures to boost the economy of a sense add a luxe car market is all about change. He said the premium segment or segment of Rs 25-30 lakh, however, has also seen good growth and compete clause.

According to Mitra, the company's Pune plant, which will be followed next year by the GL-Class, M-Class assembling its range will start from October. In addition, the Assembly class B also can be triggered by the end of 2013, he said.

Currently, the luxury car market stood at 25,000 units per year, but 2020 is expected to reach 2.5 million units. Mercedes has 23 percent of the market share.
