Diesel Price Hiked Rs 5/Liter

On Thursday, the government has decided to hike the prices of diesel by Rs. 5 per liter effective Thursday midnight, but abandoned gasoline, kerosene and LPG rates untouched.

Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday evening, headed decided to increase the prices of diesel by Rs. 5 per liter, excluding VAT.


Per family per year for the six cylinders decided to limit subsidized LPG supply.

Diesel in Delhi costs Rs. Rs 41.32 per liter and after this increase will cost. 46.95 to 12.5 per cent after considering the VAT increase.

PSU oil companies regulate the sale of diesel and cooking fuel a record Rs 560 crore and Rs 16 crore per day on gasoline are lost each day.

Prices of diesel locomotives to transport a wide gamut ranging from heavy-duty trucks are likely to be affected.


The government cited financial constraints controversial rise in prices, inflation and the common man is suffering from rising prices of basic commodities, which could already justify the fuel load.
